Paintings Galore

Daen Rose, Tears, Washington D.C.

So today I added in a new painting to the site I've been working on called "Tears", which I'm pretty proud of. It's a 3 color, oil on ceramic tile painting that has a little trompe l'oeil going on in it, depending upon which angle you view it at. Horizontally, you can see hilly cliff by the ocean, that has waves exploding around it, while viewing it vertically you can see the image of a woman crying. Working on this, both of the images came out sort of unexpectedly - I was actually just applying paint to the tile to see how it took because I've been interested in painting on tiles for a bit. I got the idea from William Merritt Chase who painted a number of things on tiles throughout his life and nearly all of them had unique tonalities to them, so it just looked really interesting, compared to canvas. Since this came out so well, I'm going to do some more with them in the future, so expect to see some more stuff soon.

In addition to this, I finished my commission I mentioned in my last news update, but I'm waiting to deliver it to the new owner, so I'm not posting a picture of it just yet. I want him to see it first so the surprise stays intact. However, that should happen next month and from there, I'll update the site with some photos of it.

Last thing to shout about is I have 2 other paintings in process right now, one is a self portrait and another is the next painting in my Insect Divinity series. I'll write some more about both in another post though, so stay tuned.....

Until then,

C~I~A~O
