KAHELELANI BACKGROUND: HORIZONTAL

2019 oil on masonite panel, with applied pieces of sterling silver leaf. Measures 8" by 8", with the painting's back featuring my thumbprint in oil. 

This painting is 2 of 2 in a series. I created this while brainstorming how to create the background for my larger painting "An Enduring Humanity".  Made with the same materials and silver leaf that I used there, this painting features a horizontal scrape that breaks up the other strokes and a slightly ligher yellow tone and heavier mid-tone paint than the "Vertical" version.
