2017 oil on canvas landscape, measuring 16" by 20". This painting takes on a modern approach to landscape painting by being rendered in a flat, monotone style, placing emphasis on light and its gradations. Portraying a sunset... or a moonrise... occurring in a hazy, smokey backdrop of placid mountains, this image is Daen's take on an actual photograph (see last photo in the gallery).  This image was selected purposely to give the viewer a different take on the genre and intone more about the location, the light and simplicity of the area in the painting, rather than the execution of the painting.
