MANA WAHINE

Measuring 36" x 24", this 3/4ths sized portrait was painted almost exclusively with gold, silver and copper infused paints. When viewing this painting from any angle, light hits the lines and shines off the edges creating a unique, gilded take on traditional portraiture.

From a subject matter standpoint, this pointing is titled "Mana Wahine" to purposely represent the strength, fortitude and mystique of Hawaiian women. "Mana" in Hawaiian is translated roughly to be "spiritual force or power". In my representation, the subject matter, pose and mongo shell lei were all purposely chosen to illustrate these concepts.
